Married couple Tharindu, 42, and Shammika Perera, 40, have bought their dream home within the tranquillity of our Laughton Gate development near Dinnington, South Yorkshire.
After 15 years of living in busy Romford, east London, Shammika and Tharindu discovered Laughton Gate in their search for a new home and welcoming community in the peace of Yorkshire.
Moving with two young daughters, Sheraya, five, and Taashya, four, they sought a location that was quiet and had plenty of green spaces.
Travel consultant Shammika said, “We really wanted somewhere peaceful and safe for the girls. We often passed through the area to visit friends in Sheffield and liked what we saw. We moved from Sri Lanka to London in 2008 to complete my MBA in Business Administration with every intention of going back, but we both got jobs and fell in love with England, so never left. We love the greenery, peace and quietness here we could not find in London.”Having felt lost in sprawling London, the Perera family were seeking a close-knit community and found Laughton Gate to be the welcoming hub they needed.
“We already have a lovely community of neighbours. It’s wonderful to be part of an area where there are warm smiles and people look out for each other. A neighbour came to visit to check we were settling in which we are – the homes here are so lovely.”

Now settled in, the family looks forward to exploring the local area.
Shammika said, “We enjoy going for walks, cycling and going further afield on long drives. We have plenty of options around us and Rother Valley Country Park isn’t too far away.”
