Looking at the same four walls, especially when those walls belong to someone else, has gotten many people eager for pastures new. One young couple took the chance during lockdown to move to a fresh new Harron home in Snaith.
Gen Wright, 26, and partner Liam O’Neil, 30, had already started the process of moving out from Gen’s parents’ house and buying a home of their own when the pandemic hit. Luckily, lockdown didn’t put their move to the Manor Farm development on hold.
The time living with family meant that the pair were able to save a healthy deposit and Harron was able to ensure the move to their three-bedroom home was safe for everyone involved, whilst fully adhering to social distancing measures.
Hairdresser, Gen explains, “We saw the Alderton style home at another Harron development and were immediately sold on the flow of the open space and the little luxuries like the en-suite and dressing area.
“Manor Farm is the ideal location for us since it’s halfway between both our workplaces with great transport links. There’s such a sense of community here and our neighbours are lovely and friendly, creating the close-knit village lifestyle we were looking for.
“Our plans were in motion well before lockdown, but we were really pleased at how hard the Harron sales team worked to ensure we could move in as planned. The sales executive, Rebecca, was especially helpful and provided speedy responses to our many questions as a first-time buyer.”
Gen and Liam, who works for a builders’ merchant, are now enjoying life in a home of their own and have taken advantage of Gen’s time on furlough to get the house exactly how they want it, including landscaping the garden to get it summer-ready.
“We were lucky that we weren’t affected by moving companies closing since we’d already planned to use Liam’s van to do the moving ourselves. Lockdown’s actually worked in our favour as the perfect opportunity to settle in properly without having to rush.
“Me being on furlough has meant we’ve not only been able to add the finishing touches to make the house a home, we also fitted the garden with artificial grass just in time for the glorious weather!
“As grateful as we are that my parents let us stay with them to save for our deposit, it’s amazing to have our own space now”.
