Harron Homes Yorkshire has donated £300 to a charity football match raising funds for Rotherham Hospice. The match took place at the Marra Falcons Stadium in Armthorpe close to Harron’s newly launched Nevison’s Fold development in Barnsley.
The charity football match raised £2,500 in memory of Paul Carragher, 46, who passed away in May and was a close friend of Harron Homes’ site manager Lee Morris who manages Armthorpe Welfare FC. Armthorpe Welfare Football Club (AWFC) or “The Wellie” played against PACmen Football Club, winning 6-1 in front of the 300 spectators.
Armthorpe Welfare FC, which was founded in 1926 and reformed in 1976, is a football club of semi-professional footballers. The club is home to the first team, which plays in the Northern Counties East Football League, a development team and 10 junior teams.
The PACmen, a team name created from Paul Carragher’s initials, was made up of family, friends and colleagues of Paul. Paul received care from Rotherham Hospice and the funds raised from the match will be used to enable the Hospice to continue providing care to others who require its services.
Rotherham Hospice is an independent charity and the only adult hospice in Rotherham for the people of Rotherham and surrounding villages. They began offering Day Hospice services in 1994, and has grown over the years to now providing a 14 bed Inpatient Unit, Day Hospice, and Hospice Community Team. Their dedicated team of staff and volunteers work together to provide palliative care that incorporates psychological, physical, social and spiritual support to help patients and their families achieve the best quality of life, both at home and in the Hospice.
Lee Morris said, “We really appreciate Harron’s kind contribution and give thanks to everyone who attended and donated as well as those who took part in the game. It was an honour to be a part of the charity match in memory of Paul, and wonderful to see so many of his friends, family and colleagues take part and have fun while doing something together for the Hospice that took such good care him.”
Samantha Corbett, Sales Manager at Harron Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are proud to support a cause that means a great deal to our team and helps the Rotherham community so much. It was great to see Lee and his team get a win and raise a fantastic amount for the Hospice.”
Nevison’s Fold comprises a range of two, three, and four bedroom homes starting from £200,495.
