Kelly and Brian Pickering, with their 11-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter, have upgraded their previous older property in Heanor to a brand new home which gives them all the space they need for enjoying life as a family.
Energy Specialist Kelly, 42, said, “We took advantage of the Part Exchange through Harron which was very straightforward and would highly recommend it to anyone. It made our whole purchasing experience easier and less stressful as we didn’t have to deal with the worries you would have when you are in a chain. The sales and customer service team have been fantastic with us throughout the entire process, being very friendly and organised and they were great with our kids too.”
Looking for more space as their two children grow, Kelly and Brian discovered the four-bedroom Settle.
Kelly continued “We bought a lovely four bedroom detached home with a garage and large rear garden which, our son is already making use of for football! We loved the house so much from the beginning. We have never lived in a new home before. We liked that we moved in and everything was all done and we just needed to do all the fun parts like decorating to our tastes.
“I think the property speaks for itself; we absolutely love how it looks from the outside as much as on the inside. We love the render and large windows all through. The property is very spacious and has a contemporary look about it, and the windows let through lots of natural light. I really enjoy baking so I love that I can do this and catch-up with my family in the same room and not be separate like we were previously. We also have an extra bedroom which is being used as an office come gym for when I work from home, and so we have an extra area to work out in as we are all really sporty!”
Brian, 45, Fire and Safety Systems Operations Director, added, “We were looking for something a little bigger as our kids are older now. The children’s bedrooms were much smaller in the old house and our youngest had a box room so he is enjoying having a bigger and more organised area. The house is well built and the layout is perfect, the kitchen here is lovely and open with a dining area where we can enjoy our meals together and catch up on our days. We didn’t really have the proper space for this before and our old kitchen didn’t have many surfaces or much storage. This house is exactly what we wanted.”
Location was another important factor in their decision, with the countryside on their doorstep, Shipley Lakeside was ideal for their active lifestyle.
Brian continued, “We chose Shipley Lakeside because of its beautiful surroundings, it’s right on the edge of Shipley Country Park where we like to go walking, and it’s close to a lake, the views here are incredible. We all love going out with our friends and family, and enjoy to travel and see new places.”
Kelly added, “It’s nice to be close to the park, we are quite an active family so this is ideal for us, between us all we go running, walking, cycling, kickboxing, dancing, and play football. We are also both a little closer to our workplaces and not far from family and friends either. We are looking forward to seeing how the site develops too.”
