To mark Roald Dahl Day (13th September), we arranged storytelling sessions at Kingfisher Primary School in Doncaster, close to the newest development, Riverdale Park which is launching this Autumn and at Carlton Primary School in Carlton, close to The Hawthornes.
Roald Dahl Day celebrates the author and his creative children’s books, encouraging primary school children to engage with the wonders of reading and storytelling.
Storytellers Beth Guvier and Vickie Orton delivered the sessions to Year Two and Year Three students through interactive performances of Roald Dahl inspired tales readings of the author’s original stories.
We also gifted an anthology of Roald Dahl books to each school library, and each pupil received a goodie bag containing a chocolate bar reminiscent of Charlie and the Chocolate factory Wonka bars and a Waterstones gift card.
Jon Watson, Head Teacher at Carlton Primary School, said: “We are very grateful to Harron for organising this session for the children. They had a great day and we are looking forward to exploring Harron Homes’ kind donation of books.”
Aimee Pickering, HLTA & Fundraising Lead at Kingfisher Primary School, added “It was wonderful to see the children so engaged with the storyteller. We really appreciated Beth’s interactive style. A big thank you to Harron Homes for making this possible and their kind donation of Roald Dahl books to our library.”
Natalie Griffiths, Sales and Marketing Director at Harron Homes North Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to be able to provide these storytelling sessions for Roald Dahl Day.”
Alison Taylor-Shaw, Sales and Marketing Director at Harron Homes Yorkshire, added: “It’s a wonderful way to begin the school year and encourage the pupils reading.”
