Harron Homes has made a donation for an upcycling project to Howden Junior School in Howden, near the development York Vale Gardens.
The donation provided materials that have been re-purposed and decorated by the schools gardening club. The materials were used to form a structure within the forest school area they are developing that will also include gentle sounds, smells and feelings.
The school is a small inclusive village junior school and the garden will serve to enrich the pupils and increase awareness of wildlife in the local environment and aid their own development outside the classroom.
The garden will be completed by the pupils themselves using donated items and will include planting colourful flower beds, and designing a winding path flowing around the garden.
Liz Rodger at Howden Junior School said, “We are grateful to Harron Homes for their donation towards the creation of our wildlife garden. The idea is to create the space into a place that is accessible, relaxing and calming, and will attract wildlife and build upon classroom lessons in a more peaceful and supportive environment.”
Alison Taylor-Shaw, Sales and Marketing Director at Harron Homes Yorkshire, said: “We’re delighted to be able to make this donation to Howden Junior School for their wildlife garden.
“We often establish our developments close to high-quality local schools such as this one, because we want to create communities that are vibrant and connected.”
