Yorkshire based Harron Homes is sponsoring Ripon’s first Colour Run which is taking place on Sunday, 15th March at Ripon Grammar School.
The event has been organised by Ripon Grammar School student Araminta Praud (18), as part of her Extended Project Qualification. Proceeds are going to the Prince’s Trust, a youth charity that helps young people aged 11 to 30 get into jobs, education and training, which Araminta initially learnt about through school.
“The work they do is really important to me”, Araminta said “They help underprivileged young people, people my age, and give them opportunities that I am lucky enough to have. I strongly believe that everyone should have the same opportunities, no one should be limited.”
The sponsorship has covered the cost of the paint for that essential vivid finish line photo, resulting in a larger donation to the Prince’s Trust.
Harron’s sponsorship of the event came about through the keen eye of Bishop’s Glade Sales Negotiator Heidi Elliott.
Heidi explained, “I’ve joined some local Facebook groups to get to know the area better as I’ve only recently started working in Ripon. I saw a post about the colour run, and as Harron is keen to support the local community as much as we can, I suggested we get involved.
“I’m really glad we’re sponsoring the colour run. Some of the Bishop’s Glade team will be going to cheer on the runners; it’s a great cause, and it should be great fun too!”
The fundraiser was inspired by the beautiful countryside nearby.
“I live in a beautiful area of the country and I’d love for children to spend more time outside, appreciating the area we live in, instead of on their screens! Ripon Colour Dash is about getting everyone outside and spending quality time together (whilst also promoting exercise!). It will be something for everyone to enjoy, as you can run, walk or sprint and we won’t be timing the run. It’s not about how quickly you can complete the course but more about having fun!”
